Help us guide our CERT program by completing a short survey.
Are
You Ready?
Does everyone in your
family know where to go and who to call if you're not together
when disaster strikes? Do you have at least a week of food and
water as well as car and home emergency kits so your family is
ready to shelter in place or evacuate in the event of an
earthquake or other large scale emergency?
Materials to help
you prepare are available for download free from the KPB
Office of Emergency Management.
Individuals or
organizations who would like to order printed copies of Ready
publications can download the Ready
Publications Order Form and mail or fax it to the FEMA
Warehouse.
What's your RQ
(Readiness Quotient)? Find out by taking a simple test at www.WhatsYourRQ.org.

Volunteer
Opportunities |
|
In our
society, the most basic of values is people
helping people, and in the process, helping themselves.
As with most
volunteer programs, the KP Citizen Corps program
operates with limited resources and volunteers are what
keep us going. If you'd like to foster emergency preparedness in your neighborhood, workplace
or community, here are some ways you can help:
-
Take
CERT and Fire Corps training and volunteer to be
part of a response team
-
Help get
your neighborhood ready with the Map Your
Neighborhood (MYN) organizing tool
-
Provide emergency preparedness checklists
to your church, club or at health and safety fairs
-
Help
plan CERT volunteer gatherings and exercises
-
Write an
article for our Citizen Corps newsletter

Thoughts
on Disaster Preparedness
The landscape
that drew many of us to Alaska also presents us with a
long list of natural disaster possibilities, from
earthquakes and tsunamis to volcanic ash, flooding,
avalanches, severe winter weather and raging wildfires.
Fortunately, as a group Alaskans tend to be hardy,
resourceful and self-reliant. Even so,
there are still many things we can each do to minimize
our risks - personally, materially and as a community.
Are you
ready for the possibility of a natural or man-made
disaster? Test your disaster preparedness with some of
the following questions:
Information
that can help you be disaster ready is available
through the Kenai Peninsula Borough Office
of Emergency Management, FEMA,
and the American
Red Cross. Don't delay - start
working on your family disaster plan today!
What
is the Kenai Peninsula Citizen Corps?
The Kenai Peninsula Citizen Corps (KPCC) program offers CERT
and Fire Corps (Wildfire Preparedness) training and
volunteer opportunities. Our training goals are to identify disaster risks and develop
solutions that connect local leaders, volunteers and
first responders to build stronger, safer, better
prepared communities. For more
information on your local Citizen Corps programs, view
the brochure.
