Giving the "Gift of
Safety" for the Holidays!
As many may remember, for September 2006 National Preparedness
Month we initiated a campaign to assemble Basic Emergency Supply
Kits. Our goal was to encourage everyone to put together their
own home emergency kit as well as collect supplies and build
kits for low-income seniors. The good news is that we were able
to assemble 200 kits! In addition, the Anchor Point Disaster
Response Group and Senior Center gathered enough materials to
assemble another 30 kits! We were delighted to share the
"Gift of Safety" for the holidays!
Organizations who received and distributed the kits included:
Cook Inlet Housing, Frontier Community Services, the
Forget-Me-Not Adult Day Program, and the Kenai, Soldotna,
Nikiski, and Ninilchik Senior Center Homebound Care Programs.

Mayor Williams thanks a few of the many
sponsors and volunteers who helped with the emergency
kits. Please see the Fall/Winter
newsletter for a list of the many individuals, businesses
and organizations who helped build the emergency kits! |
The project was such a
success that we're thinking of doing it again next year! If you
